"The amazing global experiences that shaped my journey!" - Erick Moran

“As I look back – what an incredible journey I’ve had with Intake and IDP – one that gave me the opportunity to travel to different countries, engage with people from all corners of the globe, embrace new cultures, languages, cuisines, environments, and experiences. These experiences have significantly moulded both my personal and professional identity. And I’m excited to share with you my story, from the very first chapter. 

I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Quito, Ecuador, where I embarked on my educational journey, ultimately earning my bachelor's degree in law from 'Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.' Following my graduation, I devoted more than four years of my career to serving within two governmental institutions. 

At the age of 25 was when I began my journey into international education as a student with a transformative 2-year International Master's in Business Administration Program at 'National Chengchi University.' This endeavour was made possible through a scholarship, allowing me to immerse myself in the rich academic landscape of Taiwan. 

During my first year of studies, I embraced the opportunity to join the dynamic team at Intake Education as a 'Partnerships Intern.' Upon completing my master's degree, I was presented with a full-time position as a 'Partnerships Coordinator,' a role I eagerly embraced, which then led me to extend my stay in Taiwan. Two years later, my dedication and contributions were rewarded with a well-deserved promotion to 'Contracts and Partnerships Manager.' 

Towards the end of last year, the exciting news of Intake's acquisition by IDP surfaced. Undoubtedly, the most valuable asset IDP is acquiring from Intake are our exceptional team members. I was privileged to actively participate in the integration process of Intake into IDP, which culminated in my transition to the IDP legal team in the picturesque city of Melbourne, Australia.  

My tenure at Intake has been marked by significant accomplishments, notably spearheading contract management initiatives with the organisation's valued client partners. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to serve as a legal resource to the head office, offering invaluable insights on various legal matters. 

One of my proudest achievements at Intake has been becoming one of the select four recipients of the Intake Impact Scholarship. Launched last year, this scholarship program, available to our global staff, aims to nurture future leaders by enhancing their expertise, leadership skills, and self-confidence, all to the benefit of our entire team. Thanks to this opportunity, I am currently pursuing my studies in International Corporate & Commercial Law LLM at King's College London. 

In an ever-evolving industry, my advice to fellow professionals is simple: keep moving forward. While it may sound cliché, it is the fundamental lesson I've gleaned from my journey. Opportunities are ever-present, and our preparedness to seize them is key. The more we invest in our personal and professional growth, the better equipped we become to tackle greater challenges. 

In the face of adversity in your journey, remember that should you experience setbacks, what counts is knowing you've given your best effort with genuine intentions. This valuable lesson was imparted to me by a brilliant professor during my time in Taiwan, and it has remained etched in my mind. In essence, when confronted with tough times, give your all with steadfast motivation; the outcome will ultimately be positive. Furthermore, I emphasize the importance of seeking assistance and relying on the support of others—there are always individuals eager to lend a helping hand. 

Each and every one of us have a unique pace and path. It is crucial that as we walk this path, to infuse purpose into our actions. By doing so, we can consciously chart a course leading to our desired objectives. Understanding that we are crafting our individual journey towards success, we should consistently take positive steps to reach our goals. With diligence and patience, we are sure to enjoy success for our efforts. 

My professional journey has granted me the privilege of collaborating with team members from various countries and departments within the organisation. The team has been nothing short of friendly, generous, supportive, and brimming with talent. I take immense pride in the individuals I've had the pleasure of working alongside.  

Intake and IDP coming together has presented countless opportunities to our customers, clients, and numerous team members around the world, including myself. The future appears promising and brimming with excitement! 

I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to contribute my expertise and positively impact other teams that collaborate with the Legal department. I also look forward to settling into the vibrant city of Melbourne, which presents an entirely new experience for me, encompassing new culture and lifestyle.
