06 December 2022“Being part of a diverse team, where everyone is going the extra mile to support students from different backgrounds, in helping them make the right decision to select the right course and university, and eventually seeing them satisfied and happy, feels gratifying. The meaningful and lifechanging impact that we have in students’ lives feels very rewarding.

The leadership team at IDP are always intentional about continuing to build and create a safe workplace where everyone is encouraged to bring their best selves to work and live a balanced life. The work culture at IDP is unique and amazing. Every team member at IDP is valued and celebrated every day for their meaningful contributions. Every good work is always recognized and rewarded. This people-first approach is what makes being a part of IDP special.
I’ve worked on various projects at IDP, and my most favorite is to have had the opportunity to be part of the team that designed the Canadian accreditation exam for all IDP education counsellors - supporting students who aspire to pursue their higher education in Canada. It was exciting, educative, and enlightening, as we learnt a lot from each other throughout the whole process. I am very proud of what we’ve achieved as a team together.
To me, success is all about overcoming obstacles and helping others succeed. As a lead for my team, my responsibility is to guide them, and help them succeed in achieving their goals. I always look for opportunities to support my team and help them bring their best selves to work.
We, as IDP Canada team, have attained several outstanding achievements together. We won the ‘Country of the year’ and ‘the winner in outstanding achievement for Students Placement’ categories in FY21 IDP Global Excellence Awards. We are a truly diverse team, as we have a miniature global village in our team, comprising of team members from India, China, Korea, Nigeria, Singapore, and Vietnam.

There are immense challenging opportunities available at IDP that enable one to grow and learn. I started as an education counsellor in 2014, later progressed to a senior education counsellor role and now playing a lead role this year. It feels amazing to look back and see how my career has progressively advanced over the years at IDP”. – Sam Lu, Team Lead, Counselling – Canada.
