“Humans rely on interaction, connection, and positive relationships to thrive – which can only be fostered in safe spaces.

At IDP, we take this seriously and are committed to continue being a safe and inclusive environment for our team members. We believe in treating our people with respect, fairness, and dignity. We understand that creating a safe space is one where people feel they can bring their full selves to work and contribute their best in a secure environment. And we are able to create such a space through our focus on inclusion, diversity and equity. And to help with this, I am supportive of the various initiatives we have that help make IDP the safe and amazing space it is for our team members.

For example, I am part of the IDP Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Global committee that plays a role in intentionally creating the best work life and inclusive space for our people around the world. And not just to helping create a safe space at work, we also extend to help those who may need further support. In recent years, we signed the #IStandForRespect pledge, committing to stand against gendered harassment and violence in all its forms.

We are dedicated to making the workplace safe for everyone. Now, creating a safe space can mean different things to different people. To me – it is about not being afraid to admit failure; being confident to try new things; sharing ideas, without fear of retribution; being open to receiving and encouraging honest and respectful feedback; feeling comfortable with vulnerability; asking questions - being curious with the intent to learn; adopting a growth mindset as an individual and as teams; respecting and nourishing human-to-human interaction; a space where team members feel heard and valued; and actively listening without judgment. As we get comfortable with sometimes feeling uncomfortable, we learn and grow to be better versions of ourselves at work and outside of work.

Some of our team members and I share some messages of how we have created safe spaces and what it means to us.

I encourage you to think about what creating a safe space means to you because it’s up to you, #ItsUpToMe, and it’s up to each and every one of us to create a safe space.

I'm so proud and grateful to work with such a talented and diverse group. Would you like to be part of our team? You can start by looking for opportunities here.” – Simon Emmett, Chief Executive Officer, IDP Connect.
