"Guided by impactful and supportive leaders - my IDP story!" - Ferwen Tadesse

“Maher El Bakry was an inspiring leader and his leadership left a lasting impact on all of us. I had the privilege of working under his guidance, which motivated and shaped me. I was always driven by his genuine care for those he led. 

The Maher program, a tribute to his legacy, is IDP's flagship mentoring initiative, designed to nurture team members across the globe. It resonated with me, offering a perfect opportunity to enhance my leadership and professional skills. 

Having had the opportunity to participate in the program during the pandemic taught me adaptability and agility in my approach to work. Furthermore, engaging with our Global Leadership Team and fellow participants from around the world broadened my perspective, revealing effective solutions from different angles. 

Our Global Leadership led sessions were truly eye-opening. Each workshop and discussion honed my communication skills and exposed me to diverse leadership styles. I would like to thank our Global Leadership Team for dedicating their time and efforts in mentoring sessions every year as part of this program and I’m grateful to have had an opportunity to be a part of this. What an unforgettable experience! 

Alongside workshops and mentoring sessions led by our Global Leadership, as part of the program – I also pursued an online Business Analytics course by Harvard Business School – which helped enhance my analytical skills and understand data dynamics in practical operations. 

Alongside learning through study – the program made intentional learning through every experience became my guiding principle, driving my progress. I have also learnt that challenges are chances to innovate. 

Looking forward - I strive to continue the path of a leadership role and contribute towards the growth of the organisation through strategies and sustainable, effective solutions.
