"How I found my way into my dream field of Data Science!" Narendra Kumar

"I began my story with IDP as a Data Analyst - back in 2007. And my interest and passion towards my line of work has helped me progress from then to where I am now. Today, I’m a Senior Manager with 15 years of experience in IDP. Currently, I play a role in almost all data life cycles of collection and in how our data is published. Data is my strength. It is my passion. 

I am also proud to share that I am an emerging leader of IDP's flagship leadership mentoring initiative, the esteemed Maher El Bakry Emerging Leaders Award (MEBELA). I even very vividly remember the very moment I learnt I was selected as one of IDP's global MEBELA recipients – I was over the moon! So inspired by all the stories of our emerging leaders speaking of their experiences over the years – I couldn’t resist applying last year.

The MEBELA is playing a huge role in helping me explore my dream field of Data Science. I am now learning new modern techniques in collecting data using automation and understanding how to increase efficiency.  

The program of study I have chosen as part of my MEBELA experience is the Executive PG Program in Data Science offered by IIIT Bangalore. I look forward to completing this program and am eager to share my learnings back to my team. 

As a MEBELA recipient, it’s great connecting with our global leadership and my fellow recipients through workshops and sessions. I especially value my one-on-one connects with our Chief People Officer - Georgia, where I am able to share my progress with my program of study and my future career goals. I feel truly valued to have a leader from our Global leadership taking the time and effort to connect with and mentor me in my career journey. 

The MEBELA is helping me build my personal brand alongside my knowledge and skills in a field I love!

Some other key milestones from my IDP story that are close to my heart include:

• Having won the Employee of the year award (2012)

• my team's Global Excellence Award win

• the IDP Certificate of Excellence (for my work in Higher Education and Offer in Principal IDP LIVE APP)

• and the regional ‘Most inspiring Employee’ award

My short-term goal is to use modern data science techniques to build a business glossary and processes for our Single Course Cloud Project. And in the long run, my goal is to become a Data Scientist in IDP and guide our various teams and products on modern data science techniques in line with our business needs. 

Overall, IDP has and continues to help so many of us shape our careers by providing learning opportunities and offering us recognition for our accomplishments - and I am just another example of this!
