As a People Experience (PX) Officer, Normel helps enhance employee engagement and all other PX activities through strategic initiatives.

I joined IDP in March of this year. It has been a wonderful experience and I have learnt so much already. Here, I am empowered to communicate my opinions, ideas, and thoughts without having to think twice. I feel valued and inspired to use my skills and talents to shape and grow the organisation’s future together as one team.

We are a small People Experience (PX) team in Philippines, and as the second member of the team, I have always felt a strong sense of responsibility for overseeing all PX initiatives in the region. I have 9 years of comprehensive experience in the Human Resources/PX sector, which has enabled me to provide effective ideas in enhancing employee engagement and all other PX activities.

Within my first 3 months at IDP, I have had the opportunity to lead several initiatives and activities. Some of them are:

- nationwide leadership training,

- regional team building activity,

- women’s day celebration,

- tree planting and clean up drive.

I feel proud and glad that all these initiatives turned out to be highly successful and had desirable outcomes.

Here at IDP, we take pride in what we do and how we support each other. In order to be able to adopt a strategic mindset where PX strategy creation is one of my responsibilities, I must be able to first comprehend the strategic goal and then translate it into an execution plan. I may not have been able to accomplish so much in such a short span of time without the guidance of my manager, Homer Mella. He has been incredibly supportive and empowering, which is exactly what I look for in a Leader.

Learning is a continuous process and there is still so much more to learn. What motivates me the most is to continue learning, broaden my horizons and eventually be able to take on additional activities and challenging projects and lead them. My goal is to keep reaching for the stars and be proud of my accomplishments. So far at IDP, I have learnt that by doing things the right way, it is never impossible to create your own brand of leadership. There are so many success stories at IDP to take inspiration from. Also, needless to say our authentic leaders always look out for opportunities to empower and help us grow professionally.

I thoroughly enjoy working at IDP. The work environment here is friendly and all the stakeholders I collaborate with are extremely supportive. At IDP, we all share the same goal, driven by purposeful work to achieve change on a global scale.

On a personal note - as a flutist, I am a member of the UP Manila Classical Ensemble, a University of the Philippines auxiliary orchestra. On weekends, I teach free music theory to youngsters who are out of school, in preparation for their violin and flute performances lessons, and this helps me strike a balance between my professional and personal life.” – Normel De Luna, People Experience Officer in Manila, Philippines
