As Head of Partnerships & Customer Support at IELTS Australasia & Japan, he enhances customer experience and drives strategic growth for IDP

As the IELTS by IDP app celebrates 3 million downloads, we meet someone critical to the IELTS community.

Over 25 years Dr Vincent Blokker, has been an IELTS test taker, international student, teacher, IELTS test day supervisor, IELTS expert.

So, if there is one person who knows the ins and outs of IELTS, it is Vincent.

It is only fitting that he is one of the IELTS experts test takers can connect with to have their biggest questions answered on the IDP IELTS App.

The IDP IELTS App, which has just celebrated more than 3 million downloads since launch, is IDP’s central hub for booking, preparation and connecting with the IELTS community.

We sat down with Vincent to ask his advice for test takers preparing for IELTS.

What is your number one test taker tip? If you are considering IELTS, download the app and make use of the E2 score estimator and the free preparation materials. These will help you understand where you are at and what areas you can focus on before you book your test.

Any advice on booking timing? If you can avoid it, try not book your test the day before you take it. Book in advance if you can, and use that time to go over practice tests, have more conversations in English, and read and listen to as many different types of English content as you can.

What do you enjoy most about IELTS? I have worked close to IELTS for more than 15 years and I know that success often starts with IELTS. My favourite part of IELTS is seeing young people with big global dreams set a goal, work hard and achieve it. An IELTS is a badge of honour for your language ability. There is no better feeling than seeing a test taker achieve their score after working really hard for it.

What might some people miss in the app? When you take IELTS, you are part of a community. Millions of people take IELTS each year. If you have a question, chances are someone else has wondered the same thing, so take a look at the FAQs in the community section of the app.

Final words? Be proud of what you are embarking on. I know I am proud of all our test takers (… and don’t forget to download the app!)
