IDP appoints Duncan Thomas as Chief People Officer

IDP Education has appointed Duncan Thomas as Chief People Officer on a permanent basis, following his time as Interim Chief People Officer since April 2026. Duncan will continue as part of IDP’s Global Leadership Team. 

Duncan brings more than 20 years of people and culture leadership experience across education, technology, financial services and telecommunications. He has worked at organisations including Pearson, Fujifilm Business Innovation, Bravura Solutions, American Express and Telstra, with experience in Australia, the United States and globally. 

Tennealle O’Shannessy, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, IDP Education, said Duncan’s permanent appointment provides continuity as IDP continues to transform.

As Chief People Officer, Duncan will lead IDP’s global people strategy. His focus will be on building leadership capability, developing the skills needed for the future and strengthening a performance culture aligned to IDP’s business strategy.
