IDP Education has launched a new tool to help people boost their scores on the world’s most trusted English test, IELTS.

Since its launch in May 2022, the free app, IELTS by IDP, has already amassed more than 163,000 downloads. The app enables test takers to prepare for test day with official practice materials and receive their results in one central portal.

This month, IDP has partnered with Macquarie University to offer users of the app exclusive preparation material.

Neil Pearson, Chief Digital Officer of IDP Education, said IELTS by IDP helps people connect to real support, developed by real people.

“The outcome of an IELTS test changes lives,” Mr Pearson said.

“We want test takers to know we are here to support them, so they walk into their IELTS test empowered to achieve their best score” he said.

“As a test, IELTS focuses on real-life conversation and connection. Language is human, testing should be as well. Therefore, IELTS by IDP focuses on human connections by using video messages from official IELTS experts to provide in-depth test preparation advice.”

The app also encourages peer-to-peer learning by featuring tips and advice from test takers around the world.

“From the moment you decide to sit your IELTS test to the moment your results are available, IELTS by IDP will make the journey towards achieving your global study goals easier than ever,” Mr Pearson said.

The app focuses on three important stages in the IELTS test process: preparation, booking a test, and viewing preliminary results. IDP is also offering app users a free taster to Macquarie University’s preparation course, which has helped over 700,000 test takers prepare for their test globally.

New features include:

  • IELTS Prepare: Access official IELTS preparation materials with the ability to filter and search for content based on a test taker’s needs.

  • Book: The booking component of the app will allow IELTS test takers to schedule a test quickly and easily at the most convenient time and location.

  • Results: Test takers can find their IELTS results faster using the app and understand what their results mean. This is a valuable and time-saving feature for repeat test takers.

The development of the app allows IDP to continuously improve the experience for test takers. IDP has plans to update the app with enhanced preparation content, formal practice tests and gamified experiences throughout the year.

IELTS by IDP can be downloaded from app stores in more than 65countries.
