IDP has introduced a new feature in the IDP Live app that allows students to start their international study applications directly within the platform, simplifying the process and improving the experience from the very beginning of the journey. 

The update removes friction from a traditionally manual process, enabling students to enter key information quickly and accurately through a familiar, mobile-friendly interface. By reducing administrative back-and-forth, the enhancement also gives IDP counsellors more time to focus on what matters most: providing tailored advice and guidance at key decision points.  

“Our goal is to remove barriers and make every part of the journey easier for students,” said Neil Pearson, IDP Chief Digital Officer.  

“This upgrade empowers students to take the lead while also allowing our counsellors to deliver more targeted, expert support. It’s a smart shift that delivers real benefits on both sides,” he said. 

Early results are already promising. The number of students initiating applications via IDP Live has grown steadily, and feedback indicates that the streamlined process is enhancing satisfaction and speeding up decision-making. 

More students are choosing to begin their applications via the app, with counsellors reporting faster progression through key stages and more meaningful conversations from the outset. Students are also spending less time repeating information, and more time making informed decisions about where and what to study. 

“We’ve known for some time that students want more autonomy in how they manage their journey. This puts the control in their hands, while still keeping expert support close by,” he added. 

The new functionality is part of a broader evolution of IDP’s digital platforms, building a student experience that is faster, simpler and more connected, without losing the personal touch that defines its global network.
