IDP Education has announced it will now support students to study in Malaysia, expanding the range of study destinations available to its students.
IDP has long supported students to study in Australia, the UK, Ireland, the US, New Zealand and Canada. This latest expansion builds on that global network, introducing Malaysia as a study destination, while continuing to support strong student flows to established countries.
The move aligns with changing student preferences, with growing demand for new destinations that offer strong education quality, career outcomes, and affordable study options. IDP’s latest Emerging Futures research shows students are increasingly focused on return on investment, employability, and flexible pathways across multiple destinations.
Malaysia is an attractive option with established international branch campuses and a range of quality local providers, strong employment prospects, and diverse student communities all contributing to the growth in demand.
Simon Emmett, IDP Chief Partner Officer, said the expansion was about offering choice so that students can find the best destination that will set them up for success:
“While English speaking destinations remain highly attractive to students, we know international students are a diverse group, with diverse preferences. Some students are weighing up cost, career outcomes, and flexibility, and they’re increasingly open to high-quality options closer to home."
"Malaysia offers international degrees, diverse student communities, and strong employment opportunities. Expanding into Malaysia means we can open more pathways and help more students find the right place for them to study,” he said.
Lim Shui Chin, Chief of International Office from Sunway University welcomed the expansion.
“We’re excited to be working more closely with IDP as they expand student placement into Malaysia”
“IDP has a strong track record of connecting institutions with well-prepared, motivated students, and we look forward to welcoming high-quality applicants to our campus through this partnership,” she said.
The initial rollout will focus on a select number of markets as part of a phased pilot, ensuring a high-quality experience for students and partner institutions.
